Recently, I've been meaning to rewatch the John Wick tetralogy. I always try to find the time to watch the former Matrix star when the day is right (cold, rainy, dreary, etc.) but since the summer is filled with late evening sunsets and debilitating warmth, I've been keeping that idea on the back burner. Then I got to thinking: are there any other John Wick fanatics constantly thinking about the franchise and our beloved, stoic Baba Yaga? Is anyone thinking of accompanying me to the Continental in New York City where we can pretend we're checking in with weird golden coins? Maybe we'd get lucky running into Keanu on the subway on the way there.
Jokes aside, this franchise is interesting for multiple reasons, but for me, the movies convey what it looks like when you're feeling overwhelming amounts of grief. John Wick goes through the motions of grieving his wife's passing, his dog's passing, and grappling with the thought that he very well might not be a good person. Though spending a disturbing amount of time throughout each movie slammin' bad guys' heads in and barely saying anything of substance ("yeah"), Reeve's character proves himself to be stoic, stealthy, and a sweetheart for animals. Don't let me fool you, though — he is a lean, clean, shooting machine. And he really knows how to use a pencil (iykyk). If you're looking for a dose of the Reeves or simply adore John Wick as much as I do, scroll these memes that'll help you channel you're inner stoic as well.
