89-Year-Old Grandma Who Lost Her Dog Adopts a Sweet Senior 12-Year Old Pupper, and the Two of Them Are the Happiest They’ve Been

Adopting a dog is like- the best thing that you can ever do for yourself. Dogs are little living little rays of sunshine in our homes. They bring warmth, they bring joy. Life without them is dark and sad. To adopt a dog is not only good for them but for you too, no matter your age, no matter your circumstances. If you are someone who has had a dog for a long time and lost it, then you know that life looks entirely different without them in it. That's true for everyone, including this lovely senior woman. 

After losing her dog, this grandma considered getting another one, but she was afraid that if she adopted a puppy, she might not live long enough to outlive it. So, she would not adopt a puppy. Because she's a good person, and she put the puppy's happiness before her own. But when this senior doggo came across her path, she knew… that it was meant to be.

    Dos Happy Dog @thehappydog_ My Mum is 89. A few weeks before Christmas her elderly dog died and she was heartbroken. She'd decided not to get another dog because she didn't think it would be fair to a dog as she is disabled and doesn't think she'll live for long enough to outlive it.

    Honestly, we love this woman on so many different levels. Even here, at this age, she's thinking of the animal's wellbeing first. 'Doesn't think she'll live for long enough to outlive it' is the mark an of a pawmazing pet owners, and we are so happy that she found her perfect pupper match.

    However, a dog rescuer that had rehomed dogs with her in the past, knew her old dog had died and when a little 12 year old dog came in who's elderly owner had died, she phoned Mum and asked if she'd be interested.

    By then, she was feeling very lonely without a constant companion so said she'd give it a go and see how it went. As you can see by the photo they got on very well and are blissfully happy.
