Being a new mom can feel isolating and scary. It doesn't matter how many books you've read, classes you've taken, or family and friends who are also moms you have talked to—it doesn't even matter if you have a fantastic support system. There are things you have to grapple with emotionally as a new mom that you have to do alone. Just you and your new tiny human that you made with your own body. One of these things is feeding. The baby needs to be fed throughout the night in the beginning and as the mom with the milk, you have to be the one to wake up and feed them. Your partner can wake up with you, but then you would both be extra tired in the morning. Or you could pump and have them be the one to feed them, but then you lose out on that bonding moment. So you have to wake up, alone, and use that groggy exhausting time to understand your baby better.
However, this mom found an emotional support hack. Unsurprisingly, it's her dog!
"Through the cluster feeding nights and the early morning wake-ups, she's been there too, just awake and silently waiting by my side," she comments in her video. She shared a video of herself and her baby in the middle of the night during a cluster feed. She was happy to be with her new baby, understanding every bit of the tiny thing. She thought she was all alone, but then she noticed a sniffy little nose approaching her. Her dog was there by her side trying to understand that baby in her own way too. It seemed like the dog was there to support her through and through.
Warning, this video WILL bring you to tears because it's just that wholesome.
