'I was hired and fired within the span of 3 hours': New employee fired three hours after being hired and shown around the company's offices

The interview process is a long and arduous one for both sides, really, and the last thing anyone wants is for their time to be wasted after such a long process. The relief that comes after simultaneously finally securing a role or finally having someone to fill an empty position on the team is understated, turning energies next towards developing and furthering the burgeoning relationship. While you can expect a lot of anxiety on the first day on the part of the candidate, the last thing you expect is to actually be fired on or before your first day—let alone three mere hours after being hired and shown around the office.

Yet, that's what happened to this candidate when they received an email from their would-be new employer hours after signing on with the company and being toured around their offices, informing them that there had been changes to the "circumstances" of their position and the person they were supposed to be replacing had decided to stay on, meaning that there was no longer a role available for them. Frustrated and disheartened, they shared their experience with this online community, sharing screenshots of the email itself and their story.

    So.....I applied for a position as an adoption counselor and I ended up interviewing in person on Monday (August 19th). I arrived about 5-10 minutes early so I anticipated that there might be a wait, I made sure to notify the front desk staff and they told me I would be seen soon.     was a little thrown off seeing as you would think that they would be aware of our interview, but I figured everyone gets busy and things happen, right? I ended up hearing back from my interviewer the following Wednesday about getting the job. I was ecstatic!

    Today I came in at 9 am for my orientation. I filled out all of my hiring paperwork (payroll, W-4, provided my SS card/ID, etc). I was shown around the building which was awesome to see all the fur babies. I was so excited to start working. I exchanged numbers with the supervisor who hired me so that I could set up my hours for their schedule. About 3 hours after I got home I received a message on indeed.

OP has no obligation to be monitoring his Indeed messages, tbf even email would be a stretch at this point, on a daily basis - he got a job now, after all, so he doesn't need to sit glued to his account. Come in, rock up, make them embarrass themselves if they have to put on a brave face in front of everyone.
