AIO about how this business owner responded?
  • 03
A month ago I interviewed for a sales position. I was asked to send my name and number over Indeed messaging to be sent to the owner. I was told that they would reach out to me soon.

Didn't hear back after that from the person that interviewed me. A week goes by, nothing. Two weeks, nothing. I assume I didn't get the internship because I

haven't heard from anyone. During this time, I was interviewing for a lot of internships. Today, I get this "Hi" text from a number that isn't in my area

code. I was confused, asked who it was, and the screenshots say it all. I think it was very unprofessional to contact a candidate like this, but I don't know if it's just me.

Usually when I have opportunities like this the business owner/interviewer introduces themself by first and last name and the company they work for. I feel like this response was crazy and not necessary. AIO?

Hi iMessage Today 11:30 AM Hi, who is this? Shane Cool. Don't know a Shane. Have a good day! Great start. Or end. Who knows. I don't think you have the right number + @gmail.com Did I cut and paste wrong? Okay. Sounds good. Is this concerning the intern position? I apologize for coming off so abrasively, but it's been over a month since I've heard anything about the position and I assumed that was the end of the process for me. When an unknown number texts me with little to no information about

I apologize for coming off so abrasively, but it's been over a month since I've heard anything about the position and I assumed that was the end of the process for me. When an unknown number texts me with little to no information about who they are, I tend to brush it off. I've found another internship, thank you for this opportunity. I was told to reach out to you any you were expecting me. Probably one of the best ways you can handle someone reaching out

process for me. When an unknown number texts me with little to no information about who they are, I tend to brush it off. I've found another internship, thank you for this opportunity. I was told to reach out to you any you were expecting me. Probably one of the best ways you can handle someone reaching out to you when you're going to be working a position dealing with reaching out to people. Kinda told me everything I need to know about you. Try to reach out and you're just like off bye So mayb

CormacBiafra • 3d ago WHAT IF DANCING WITH THE STARS TEXTED YOU "HI" "SHANE" You'd be missing out on dancing, with the stars!

    • EmilySD101 3d ago. Lmao when I get a random text that just says "hi" I assume it's a scammer

NamingandEating Pets • 3d ago Was it the business owner tho? Looks like a pig butcher scam.

daisyhfk OP • 3d ago Yeah, I remember the interviewer telling me the name of the owner, being told to send my email and number to be sent over. The job entailed reaching out to people and answering questions they had. Did a loooot of deciphering before I answered because I thought it was a scam at first lol

ExoticElderberry 1983 • 3d ago NOR How hard was it to say "Hi OP, this is Shane from such and such company. You recently interviewed with us regarding an internship. I'm reaching out to see if you are still interested in said position?"
  • 18
trickstersticks • 3d ago "these are the questions that plague my mind" Lmao this is unhinged. And after you told him you accepted another internship, too. Imagine how he treats people who actually work there.

Ironyismylife28 • 3d ago NOR. Wow who would want to work for someone that reacts like that? One month later isn't soon. Starting a 'professional' text with Hi and then a Name and no other information is not in the least professional. I would have reacted the same way you did.. and likely a bit snotty.

Tall Scholar_8597 • 3d ago Looks like Shane needs to learn how to reach out to people, as it would seem it is his job to reach out to people.

Elektra2024 3d ago He was very unprofessional and no you didn't overreact. It's a blessing in disguise that you never heard back. God was protecting u.

DrSassyPants 123 • 3d ago I know you have another internship but what I would do is find said company Shane works for and give those texts to his HR. What the heck!!!

paNEANii 3d ago Shane sounds like he lives in his moms basement
