There are many benefits to be had with working remotely, but it has to be said that avoiding loneliness isn't always one of them. When you don't need to leave your house to go to your job, it's easy to add another layer of isolation to an already isolated modern life without even realizing it. While some may find this preferable, this still isn't a good state of affairs for most people.

This means that it pays for dedicated remote workers to find ways around the isolation problem that their jobs can bring. This is something that one woman gained praise for doing in an unorthodox way, after she invited her elderly neighbor to hang out with her while she was working at home. While it may not count as a social event, there is no denying that the simple act of having someone else around makes a difference. It's good to have community.
