3-day weekends are sacred.

Like a shining beacon of hope on your Teams calendar, the prospect of a 72-hour weekend coupled with a shortened work week gives burnt-out employees something to look forward to every quarter. So if you're indignant boss had the gaul to schedule a quasi-mandatory work event at his 'lake house cabin' on a 3-day weekend, you'd be rightfully peeved–just like the all-star employee who shared his story on Reddit this week.

What does your ideal 3-day weekend look like? Odds are, when you have a work holiday that extends your normal weekend, you're probably thinking of kicking your feet up, relaxing a bit, and finally cracking open that book you've been wanting to read for the last 3 months. But when u/Waldorf_Astoria got a last-minute invite to a managerial meeting at the boss's lake house over Labor Day weekend, he adamantly refused.

With a blinding rage in his heart and a notion to give his boss a piece of his mind, he politely replied that he already had plans with his newlywed wife that weekend. Then the boss had the audacity to try and guilt-trip him for not being there with the team, leading to a crack facade, an egregious fallout, epic resignations, and a whole new set of prospects lined up for a hardworking employee rewarded for setting healthy work boundaries.
