A lot of people think that cats are really easy pets. They're relatively low maintenance, they like their space and independence, and that's all true, but that doesn't make them easy. There are a lot of things that you need to know as a cat owner. You need to know how to get your cats to drink enough. You need to know how to play with your cats so that they release the pent up energy that they have. You need to know how to take care of cats when they're old and their needs become a bit greater.
And first and foremost, there is one thing that you have to know, and that is that cats are and will be cats. And that means that easy as they may be, they will still cause their shenanigans. That does not mean that you declaws them. Doesn't matter how much more convenient it makes your life. Do not declaw your cats to make them less of a cat.

We won't lie… if someone close to us ever declawed their cat, we might have yelled at them too, even if the cat healed better than the one in this story. It's cruel, we would think that everyone knows that by now.

But knowing that this person is a vet, and knowing that the reason the sister-in-law declaws the cat was just because she was just scratching some things, and the level of hurt and neglect the cat was experiencing… yeah, not wrong for yelling at her. We would have definitely done the same.
