Every lady's worst nightmare is hearing the dreaded term, "work wife." Who came up with it, and how much truth does it actually hold?
A commenter under the post in this story claims that the only reason the term exists is because other employees observe a possible budding relationship between two coworkers. So, it's likely that there is either a mischaracterization of closeness between the two, or, there is a real possibility that something romantic is going down. Either way, if you're in a monogamous relationship, these accusations (false or otherwise) are like a life sentence to your partner. One doesn't want to think that their significant other is cozying up to another coworker during work hours. Especially when your partner goes on rants about how much they dislike this coworker. More often than not, this is a sneaky method of avoiding talking about how you feel the opposite of hate.
The original poster (OP) of this story is dealing with this exact issue. Her husband has been mentioning a woman who works with him and continue to talk about all of the traits he dislikes about her. The woman finds slightly intimate photos of her on his phone, but he still denies their closeness. On OP's birthday, she visits her husband at his workplace and one of his coworkers refers to the possible "other woman" as his "work girlfriend." OP rightfully confronts her husband after months of suspicion, and they agree that he will no longer nurture this relationship with his female coworker.
Well, it seems she is still on his mind. Upon talking about baby names for their future child, the husband suggests they name their child after no other than the "work girlfriend." Scroll to read the entire story.
