Tolkien Tuesday: The Best Lord of the Rings Memes This Week (September 17, 2024)
The other day, I saw a somewhat controversial tweet that stated that The Rings of Power was an "amazing achievement", because it was "so bad that even lifetime Tolkien obsessives can't stand to watch it". To put a more positive spin on it, this point of view can also emphasize how lucky we all are to have been gifted the books and movies of the LOTR trilogy. It puts it into perspective that fantasy fandom of that magnitude is a kind of once-in-a-lifetime event, one that the truly nasty little hobbitses of the world keep alive with the many, many memes they create in its honor. Maybe there is only so much more TV and film content that can be squeezed out of the life's work of J.R.R. Tolkien, but the funny pictures most definitely have a lot more mileage in them. The examples below only help to prove that.
