Overhearing your coworker gossiping about how long you'll likely stay at the company on your very first day does not exactly inspire confidence. For many people out there, an incident like that on day one will inevitably make you feel like your days are numbered. However, for this new hire, it made her grow a thicker skin.
This employee wound up staying at the company longer than the Karen coworker who claimed she would last only three months. In fact, the employee stayed there for more than two years and waited until the perfect moment to confront her coworker. On the Karen's last day, the original poster (OP) walked up to her desk and told her, "So, I guess I lasted longer than 3 months."
Sure, it was a triumphant moment for OP, but at the same time, she did admit that this was the worst job she ever had and ended up giving her notice just one week after the Karen's final day. Perhaps this wasn't exactly the victory she thinks it is. For more stories like this, check out this post about an employee who was pressured into moving her own surgery for her boss's convenience.
