‘You’re the reason I won’t have kids:’ Man Exposes Neglectful Mother’s Parenting as Reason for Not Wanting Children, Dividing the Family Even Further
Welcome back ladies and gentlemen of the internet. How we're brought up, our childhood memories and experiences, and our relationship to our parents have indelible effects on our adulthood. It's impossible to ignore the pain of a neglectful parent, or one that wants to show you conditional love. As adults it will always be something we experienced, though we don't have to hold onto it. It may affect how we form new relationships, and our notion of a family unit. It may even deter us from having children ourselves.
This brings us to the Reddit thread. The story revolves around a family in which the five children were more or less abandoned. Having been raised by his grandmother, the original poster (OP) writes that now that he's an adult, he could not be less interested in having children. When his mother probes him about this decision, he points the finger at her, further separating them.
