"I informed him that if he ever does that again to me or any of my colleagues he will be refused service and asked to leave and not return..."

Almost banned someone on the spot on Friday So small preface: I've recently (2 weeks) become the store manager at the place I've been working for 2 years but not all the non-regular customers know this yet
  • 03
Now for the main part, I'm the type of person that is as chill as you can be in a management position but customers usually get 1 warning if they ¡me off unless they deliberately steal. Friday it was just me and a colleague in for the afternoon shift as we didn't have any main delivery scheduled, I was working stock at the back of the shop and my colleague was manning the tills and sorting customer parcels

(context, UK based and we do evri and yodel returns and collections) She was finding a parcel for someone and there was maybe 3 people in the queue. It couldn't have been more than 2 minutes before I start hearing "oi" repeatedly from somewhere; now I didn't realise it was directed towards me until I looked up to see who was saying it and saw it was the person at the front of the queue.

So I walked to the tills, served the man and as I did informed him that if he ever does that again to me or any of my colleagues he will be refused service and asked to leave and not return. I almost flat out told him to leave without serving him but I'd rather give them a singular chance. The customer behind him was a regular and verbatim "an excuse me wouldn't be difficult" Tldr: I got 'oi'd" at by an impatient customer and put them in their place

No_Nefariousness4801 Yeah, over here on the other side of the pond they'll snap their fingers, whistle, or other such nonsense. I just give them a blank stare until they choose a more civil manner of trying to get my attention FoxySlyOldStoatyFox So you're telling me that you don't join in with the finger-snapping, whilst walking as though you're in some 50s musical about hoodlums whose face-offs all take the form of interpretive dance?

Jumbrion I suddenly become deaf and blind. Until they say excuse me. 'Oh, Sorry Sir. I didn't hear you even though you were only 10ft away' CannonFodder 58 I work retail pharmacy, and literally told someone to take a hike at the drive through the other day after he started cussing at me. The store manager was helping us and backed me up on it. We have a sign in the window now that explicitly says no abuse, threats, or violence.

jaimefay People regularly get my name slightly wrong at first. I don't mind really, it's a bit unusual and not the standard spelling. When they apologise I usually say "oh, don't worry, I answer to anything that isn't "oi, you!"" I literally joke about it as an example of extreme rudeness and this guy actually said it to you When I was waiting on, I occasionally got people snapping fingers at me. My usual response was "I'm not a dog!". One guy snapped back one day with "no, but you are a ". He a

drink they had, whether I was every single their server or not, for at least the next six years while I was still there. Not a single server would acknowledge them. And they were generally last in the bar queue as well. The manager tried to force us to serve them, and we told him to do it himself. He tried to make us by threatening our jobs. We told him "good luck doing six people's jobs instead of lurking in the cash office all day". It was absolutely brilliant. I've never seen anyone go that c

Altruistic-Patient-8 An instant ban would have been harsh but I completely understand. Tired of customers being uncivil. I hate whistling because its unnecessary loud and im not a dog.

Mountain-Eye-9227 I told an older woman once to use her words cause she just snapped at me. Took every ounce of self control not to say use your big girl words.
