They say that dogs have a way of looking like their owners. But the jury is out on whether that means that you're more likely to choose a dog that resembles you, or if you slowly meld into looking like each other as time goes on. Both make sense. If the evidence suggests that many people choose partners that share similar characteristics to them (hence the siblings or dating account), then it might follow that it extends to dogs too. On the other hand, it makes sense that dogs might pick up on your mannerisms and facial expressions, therefore giving the impression that they're like you.

We may never be fully sure, but the axiom holds either way. It's just further proof that dogs are more than just pets, they're members of our family. Family resemblance included. Now if only I could spend the day like my dog does. Napping and eating. Though I'd have to take a break for dog memes.
