My dad is one of these. He goes to a senior's early bird hour at a restaurant on Friday nights, where there is a senior discount. He dresses up and walks into that restaurant like he's going down a red carpet. His

why. He said "Isn't this great? This kind of treatment is the reward you could expect when you're older too, if you weren't such a spoiled and lazy bunch of kids".
  • 05
I looked at him confused. "But dad... The discount senior hour isn't a reward for anything, it's a business decision to fill up he restaurant and do more business at this time of day".
  • 06
He went red, and his face filled with fury. "This is for us and our generation! Unlike you, we are REAL PEOPLE. This is how we get thanked for everything we've done. Do you have ANY idea what we've done

threefeetofun • 2d ago Millennial Senior discounts were because seniors didn't have money compared to the younger generations. Now that boomers are seniors I think those discounts should be pulled.

Jinzot • 2d ago Many restaurants offer discounts for children. I guess the reward skips generations.

Chris968 Millennial 2d ago. Um... "thank you for being old?" Like what. That's absolutely ridiculous. On a side note, I used to work as a cashier at the local grocery store and Tuesdays was "senior discount day" and they got a whopping 5% off their purchase. Of course, they

were expected to know about/ask for it, and I got myself into so much trouble either a) giving them the discount when they weren't 55 and they'd get offended, or b) they didn't look 55 and I didn't give it to them and they got offended. I really didn't care about my $11/hr job and just gave the discount to every single customer who came through my line on Tuesdays, lol.

Metalsmith21 2d ago I get a senior discount entirely by accident. I signed up for a local grocery store's card things about 15 years ago. You just had to fill out an attached card and mail it in to register it. I filled it out thinking I might as well throw off their data collection metrics and give them fake information. children. Then put down my physical address as the house next to me and a email address that I use to collect spam and contractor quotes. A few years go by and I look at my receipt and I notice I'm getting a 5% Senior Citizens discount when I shop on a Wednesday. So I started to grocery to shop on Wednesdays from now on.

    | guess they think I'm 103 years old now... I'll just keep doing my shopping on Wednesdays I guess.
