‘Management is acting more toxic’: Employee is fired but expected to work harder during his 3-month notice period, so he talks to recruiters during office hours

Toxic management will always find a way to make a bad situation worse. When an employee is put on PIP (performance improvement plan), tensions are already running high. Even though management has given you many reasons why they think this is best, you still can't seem to find your footing.

When PIP fails, it's likely that firing you is next on the list. When that happens, it's usually a one-and-done. Rip the bandaid off. Not always, though. Sometimes, employers will let you know that they're letting you go but expect you to stay on board for a certain period of time.

In this man's case, that amount of time is three months. You'd think that he'd be cut a bit of slack, given that he was on PIP for a while before his boss decided to sack him. The employee expresses that life at his company has only become more toxic and they've been expecting much more from him. They even started giving him unsolicited career advice, urging him to reflect on "where it all went wrong". So, instead of working hard, he's continued to get "all [his] ducks in a row" and chat with recruiters during company hours. What are they going to do, fire him again?
