My neighbor has been secretly feeding my garden every winter for 3 years I finally caught them today Life Stories Every spring for the past few years, my garden has been mysteriously thriving even though I'm honestly terrible at maintaining it during winter. Today I woke up early and caught my elderly neighbor quietly spreading coffee grounds and eggshells around my plants at 6AM apparently she's been doing this all along! When I

asked her about it, she just smiled and said "Every morning I drink my coffee and make my eggs, and your garden looks like it could use them more than my trash can." I'm honestly touched. She refused to let me pay her back and just asked me to share some tomatoes when they grow. Sometimes the world gives you these little moments that restore your faith in people. Anyone else discover unexpected kindness in their neighborhood?

Old_Crow13 • 13h ago. Many years ago, I lived across the street from a Korean gentleman. The only part of his yard that wasn't covered in flowers was his driveway and sidewalk. One day Mr Kim offered me a few plants. I happen to have a very black thumb, and I told him I'd love them, but I'd probably kill them.
  • 05
I woke up a few days later to find lovely flowers all down the side of my house and sidewalk. Mr Kim told me don't worry, he'll take care of them, he just wanted me to have something beautiful like me. (I didn't find it creepy because I knew he'd lost his family in Korea, and he thought of me as the granddaughter he never got to have)

He was also a huge help and blessing when my daughter was born, because we didn't live near either of our families. He didn't sleep much at night, and he'd see my lights on and come tapping on the door. He'd take the very fussy, colicky baby and her bottle, and run me back to bed. Next morning, there he'd be, fast asleep in the recliner with the baby out like a light on his chest.

Typical-Ad-5974 · 14h ago . This reminds me of my Korean grandma who used to say "S 이웃이야" (plants are neighbors too). She'd secretly leave bowls of rice water on everyone's doorsteps because apparently it makes plants grow like crazy

Potential_Sector9766 14h ago In a world of Ring doorbells and 'keep off my lawn' signs, your neighbor is out here being a garden fairy at sunrise. That's just beautiful.

End of September there's a knock at my door to my new place. It's my old neigbour with two big bags of veggies she grew and brought to me. I thought it was very sweet for her to do that.

Hermunster 13h ago . I caught my neighbour weeding my garden. I just turned around and pretended I didn't see her. I figure if she wants to do my garden work, I was going to let her.

Future_Individual_26 • 14h ago That's such a sweet gesture! It's incredible how kindness can bloom unexpectedly. Sharing. those tomatoes will be a lovely way to say thanks!

wisemonkey101 10h ago • . I opened my blinds last Sunday to a woman trimming d ad branches from my tomato plants. She bagged up the tomatoes from the vine and left it on my walkway. Balled up the debris, washed her hands and went on her way. I have a bike basket in the front that I always have give away produce in so I assume it was a thank you for the persimmons and quince. Maybe she could not handle seeing the d ad vines. It was adorable.

    • gorcorps 13h ago I have this picture in my mind of friends/relatives that have been asking for gardening tips from you since yours looks so good. When theirs look like all you can say is "I swear, I'm not doing anything secret that I haven't already told you! I don't know why it's not working for you!" lol

She had just moved from the Middle East to Canada with her family and spoke little English.

loueezet 12h ago. • Five years ago our oldest tree fell in a wind storm onto our neighbors fence and into their yard. They were so kind about it. After we had it cleaned up and fence repaired, they sent their young son over to give my husband an envelope. It was money to help pay for the tree removal. They would not hear about taking it back. They are unbelievably great neighbors.

Wishyouamerry 12h ago. <Insert preferred holiday here.> My neighbor puts my trash can back beside my house every single trash day. I swear he must watch for the trash truck and run out as soon as it leaves because I've never come home to my trash can on the curb no matter what time I get home!

He goes to visit the neighbor and when the rest of the herd leaves, he goes back. My neighbor now spends time with him and enjoys his company. She said he is her housemate.

Wizoerda 11h ago . • I work long shifts, and live in an area that gets a lot of snow. After my divorce, I arrived home a few times and found my driveway had already been cleared by someone. I found out later that one of the neighbours had done it, but not every time, so more than one person was silently helping me out.

    • Venomous_tea 10h ago. When we lived in Kansas I came out one morning to fin snow jad collected everywhere BUT my driveway. kelczee 6h ago • • My neighbors are big Seahawks fans. They would always blow a loud horn whenever the team scored a touchdown. I'm a football fan so I loved to hear it. Last season, they didn't blow the horn at all. I didn't really think much of it but I recently found out that they didn't do it because they knew that I just had a baby and didn't want to risk waking him up.

Sirlacker 4h ago • • My neighbour, a 80yr old man, puts the wheelie bins back for most of the street. We've lived here about 3yrs and I've only brought my bins in a handful of times. He's out as soon as they've been emptied. There's definitely good people in the world.
