As cat owners who would like to have kids one day, we spend our times wondering sometimes… what will we do if our cats do not accept our babies? And yes, logically, we know that it's usually fine. Usually, cats take babies under their wings - or paws - without any issue. It's a brand new, fresh human to train to be the best servant ever. Cats love babies. For that reason and others. Cats and babies bond, if not right away, then over time. And we just need to be there to supervise and make sure that the transition happens as smoothly as possible.
Still, that tinge of concern hangs on in the backs of our minds. If it happened, what would we do? What would be the right thing? That's still a far-away decision for us, of course. The decision in this story though… was not a difficult one in the slightest.

Oh, we were so conflicted when we first came across this caption. Yes, cats are our babies, but our babies are also our babies. We were worried, not going to lie. For everyone involved. But now that we have read through the whole thing, we can safely say that the only person we're mad at in this whole story is neither the OP nor the best friend.
It's the mom. To think that both the cat owner and the pregnant best friend came to an arrangement that worked for both of them just fine, only for the mother of the best friend, who is obviously overinvolved in her life, to come in and try to cause tension. No. Just no.
