Welcome, Gen X ladies. Can you describe the color red? It's pretty much impossible without referencing other colors or things in the world that are known to be red. Colors are something that have to be experienced through sight in order to be understood. Likewise, many of our memories cannot be fully grasped by those who were not there to experience them. 

Stranger Things is lauded for its accurate portrayal of the 80s, but even with its niche references, it cannot truly encapsulate what it was like growing up in that time - you simply had to have been there. There is no way to accurately describe to Millennials or Gen Z what it was like to live in a world without the internet, to have the absolute freedom to bike as far from your home as possible (as long as you could make it home before sundown), or to watch Star Wars for the very first time in theaters with no preconceived notions of what to expect.
