For first-time parents, your baby's firsts are probably the moments you are looking forward to the most. Their first laugh, first word, first teeth, first time eating solid foods, and of course, their first steps. However, unless you are physically with your baby 24/7 for the first year or so, there always is a slight chance you are going to miss one of these things.
The beauty is, you do not have to know that you missed a first, because those who did witness it can simply not tell you that it happened.
