'Don't give your two weeks, just leave': Traveling supervisor forced to pay for his own flight home after putting in his two weeks' notice

Let this story serve as yet another reminder to never give your employer the benefit of the doubt if they are not going to reciprocate.

Here, we have an employee who worked for over three years as a traveling supervisor and had seen the once-gracious company bought out by a larger corporation, after which the treatment of employees gradually worsened over time. When the Redditor decided to finally put in his two weeks' notice, his boss forced him to pay for his own travel to get home. Now, many folks in the comments section pointed out that the original poster (OP) should never have announced his departure from the company while he was away on a business trip. However, due to the nature of OP's work, he was almost always away from home and he was left with no other option.

    once every 4 months I would get sent home for a short stay of remote work from home. It's never consistent nor is it guaranteed, I would be waiting

Road shows ( musicals mostly) would tour the country and half way through the run the company would end the season. Abandoning actors. and musicians in some remote town, several states away from where they were hired.

    Call an employment lawyer and hr. Tell hr you're gonna sue the f out of them if they don't bring you home. This is like J off from an oil patch in the field and told to walk the 200 miles home.
