We need more movies like The Lord of the Rings. And I don't just mean fantasy epics about good and evil (though I will not say no to some more of those). What I am talking about are stories depicting such great examples of non-toxic masculinity. Seriously, I think J.R.R. Tolkien might have been the best at writing male characters. His men are brave, rugged, and fearless, while also being kind, gentle, and loyal.
Aragorn proves that you can be a fearless leader who inspires others in a time of war and great peril while also showing compassion and not being afraid to show your emotions. He holds his friend's hand as he dies, crying and kissing him gently on his forehead. While Samwise shows us that even if you are a person who enjoys the simple, quiet life, a gardener who can't muster the courage to talk to a girl he likes, you can find the inner strength to carry your friend up a mountain to help him finish his mission.
We need more of those!
