It is happening again. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air - Another Lord of the Rings extended edition marathon is coming. There is no stopping it. What once only happened every 3-5 years has now become an annual occurrence. The making of the popcorn, The ordering of the pizza, the cuddling of the blankets. An unseen hand reaches for the remote and searches for the 4k versions yet again. And what has been viewed so many times before - shall be viewed once more.

And though the wife does not share in the custom, and though the children are far to young to watch the glorious violence of man versus orc - his hand is steady on the remote. The button has been pressed. Things are now in motion that can not be undone until we see Samwise Gamgee close that circular green door and the final credits roll.
