‘Turns out she’s just fat': Sweet Senior Cat Scares Her Pawrents With “Breathing Problems”, They Take Her to the Vet and Get a Hissterical Diagnosis

Happy Meownday, feline fam. It's an unavoidable thing that as cats get older, they eventually start having more and more health problems. Such is life! We can try to avoid it as much as we can, but it's just a part of getting older. Well, this sweet senior cat started having some breathing problems, and it worried her owners. She is 15 years old, after all (although to us, she doesn't look a day over 10). Well, they did the responsible thing and took her to the vet. The answer they got though, was not what they expected!

Spoiler alert: she's purrfectly healthy, but she's thicc with a capital T, fluffier than a stack of pancakes, a plus-sized powerhouse….she's chonky (and yet funky!). The only thing she needs to get healthier is a few less treats, a diet, and a bit of exercise. It's as relieving as it is funny, and we think that you'll get a kick out of this hissterical cat story below. It's certainly a pocket of sunshine on this cloudy, winter day. Enjoy!

    To be honest, she doesn't looks a day over 10 to us! We're glad that the only medical thing wrong with her is that she is portly (yet sporty). We know how difficult it can be to lose those extra pounds, but it is pawssible!

    Official diagnosis was "obese with dry skin" (hence all the dandruff) but otherwise completely healthy! Old girl is about to turn 16 and will be on a weight loss diet

    Yeah, same. We've been wanting to lose five pounds for over five years, but we just can't seem to make it stick. Oh well. We're learning to love our chunkiness. Especially now that it's winter, it keeps us warm!

While she does look overweight, she also looks like she might be a larger than average size house cat. I adopted a five year old boy who weighed 15 lbs and he was all muscle. Did he advice some form of joint supplement? Mine two 12.5 year olds have recently started taking Dasaquin.

    Tiny Tim's Tiny Foster Family 22h I've been very worried about Cheesecake lately, because she is so bulbous. I was worried about worms, or worse, fluid build up from FIP. I took her to her vet yesterday. They ran some tests. Looked for fluid. I was a stricken with anxiety, heart racing. Untreated FIP is usually fatal to kittens and losing Cheesecake would be too much. The vet comes back into my room and hands me my carrier with Cheesecake back in it. Her face doesn't indicate much. She looks at

    sticksr 16h ago • I started feeding my tuxie salmon oil a couple times a week and that helped a lot with her dandruff. Also a kitty water fountain, but I noticed more difference after the oil. No advice on weight loss tho, mines chunky too at least she isn't gaining weight tho, the vet says she's always the exact same, down to the ounce.

She's been trying to get her cat back to 9 pounds ever since he's been at 13 for the last few years. We really thought we were under feeding her, with only two meals a day because she insists on 3 meals a day very passionately.

    Jadems53 • 16h ago That's such a relief!! Fat isn't easy to get rid of (and necessary to remove) but better than an ill cat. Just watch the treats, get him on "Metabolic" which is a prescription diet food my Maine Coon loves and get him moving. I am happy for you!!
