We don't know if you knew this, but cats actually domesticated themselves. Yep. No effort on our part had to be done at all. Cats just kind of realized that we think they are the cutest things in the world, and we're weak for them, and they will get food and shelter just by… showing up in our houses. That was true way back when in history, and it's true now. Every day, a cat chooses a house and just makes it their home, and if there happen to be humans living in that house already, then… well, that's their problem.
And the most beautiful part of it? We, as the chosen humans, love every single part of it. A cat could have multiple homes and multiple sets of humans, just like the one in this story - a set for the summer and a set for the winter, and every human involved will be happy to have these cats. That's just how it works.
As you should have. Everyone knows that it's one of the biggest offenses in the world to delay food for a cat. Or so our own cats claim. If it ever happens in our homes - and we make sure it no longer ever does - our cats let us know that they are displeased, loudly and for a long time.
And clearly, your parents understand this concept. You are not there to hear the endless complaining. They are. And their clear-cut and short "no" indicates this. You now must get even more wet food then usual for the cat to account for your transgression, and maybe, just maybe, you will be forgiven.
