As people who look at animal content all day every day, a lot of times, we forget just how fierce and protective animals are when they need to be. Of course, we know that they have it in them. Even our adorable kitties and puppers are fierce when necessary. We've seen a cat get extremely protective of a newborn human baby. We've seen a dog act protective over its tiny duckling friend. But one thing we have not seen is… porcupines getting protective over their babies. We have actually come across a video of a porcupine wanting nothing more than to be petted - sharp quills and all. We didn't realize, honestly, just how fierce porcupines can be. But they are, and this amazing video of two porcupine parents protecting their babies from a leopard proves it.
"At first, I thought the leopard would quickly overpower the porcupines," reads the description of the video. "As I watched the scene unfold, I was in awe of their determination and bravery. The porcupine couple worked together, using their sharp quills as a weapon against the leopard. The leopard tried to pounce, but each time it did, the porcupines would turn their backs and raise their quills. Successfully deterring the leopard from attacking. The parents made sure that the two youngsters were always in the middle and out of reach of the leopard. After a few minutes, the leopard eventually gave up and retreated into the bush. The porcupine family was able to continue on their way, safe and unharmed."
