Happy meowlidays, feline fam. If you didn't know that cats are obsessed with Christmas trees before getting one, well, you're going to learn that lesson pretty quickly. We don't know what it is about them - maybe it's their twinkling lights, maybe they really like the taste of pine needles, or purrhaps they just see it as an irresistible oppurrtunity to add some more chaos to our household. No matter the reason, we've learned over the years some creative techniques to keeping our cats out of the Christmas tree, and 99% of them are hissterical.

From making a force field of oranges and cinnamon to guarding your tree with a literal cage, you can't say that the cat community is nothing if not ingenious. In the end, we all have to make compromises in life - and if that means having our Christmas tree on the back porch and our fluffy living room lions on the couch with us, then that's one we're willing to make.     Sir, we have to tell you the truth: we don't think that this is a very good idea. You put a box around your Christmas tree, and we all know how much cats love boxes. They might be the only thing that cats love more than Christmas trees. It's like you're begging them to jump in!

    This is honestly kind of cute! We can get down with this. Just hang some pine-scented air fresheners and you've basically done the whole job. It even has an awwdorable star at the top! Who says you can't have a Christmas cactus? We think it's great!

    Zorklunn 8h ago • • Double sided tape place at points of entry. Cat trys to climb tree and gets tape stuck to the cat. Cats runs around house until tape falls off. Repeat as often as necessary.

They still got to it the first year because the couch was too close so now it's two cat lengths from any furniture and more than counter height from the floor and it's held up for several years. I have to be careful about presents though because the cats will climb to get to that tree as soon as they see the opportunity.
