It is never fun to get fired from a job you actually loved. But it feels like even more of a low blow when they lay you off only a couple weeks before a holiday break. It's soul crushing and eye-opening. It seems like no matter how good you are at your job or how much you love what you do, the company will side with money over employees. Take TikToker @carolandcarol—she recently got laid off with Christmas right around the corner. She even shares the heartbreaking video of the exact moment she gets fired over a video call.

You can't see the people firing her, you just hear voices that sound almost robotic, definitely rehearsed. "Please know that your employer will always value their bottom line over your dignity.
