There is nothing more Midwestern than doing a return at a big box store. Something about pulling up to Wal-Mart with your gift receipt and that fleece vest your niece got you that's a size too big… that's the essence of the Midwest. Don't question it, just trust me. And what time of year is better for making returns than the days right after Christmas? We love being friendly with the customer service desk. We may have one or two classic "Karens" among our ranks, but usually us Midwesterners are friendly to a fault. We will please and thank you our way into the great beyond. We will slip you a $10 when you're least expecting it. It's just the kind of folk we are.
