"Mean" cat who dislikes everyone he meets falls in love with his owners' blind daughter, wholesome love story ensues between the purrfectly bonded pair

You know what this Tuesday needs, feline fam? A redemption story. That will inspire us to get through this day without going to the bathroom and crying…right? Just kidding, we don't really do that (often). Anyway, let's change the subject to our furvorite subject - cats!

After adopting a "mean" cat into their home, who was a jerk to everyone he meets, his pawrents had just about given up on him ever adjusting to his new life at home. But then, once he met their blind daughter, the script flipped faster than a mom trying to save a burning pancake. That may not have been our smoothest reference, but you get the idea.

Cats just know these kinds of things. And by "these kinds of things," we mean they understand who needs a little extra love. Now the two are a wholesomely heartwarming bonded pair, and you couldn't wipe the smile off our faces even if you tried. Read the whole story below and have a great day!

  • This is why cats are so special: when they choose to give their love, it really means something. Dogs, on the other hand, typically love everyone and everything they meet, so a doggo forming a bond with a daughter doesn't really pull on our heartstrings. When this “mean” cat does, though, it purractically brings us to tears. We're not crying…you are!

    fritterkitter Top 1% Commenter We had an orange cat who was a complete a hle to everyone except our daughter. We adopted her at age 9 and she was fragile and traumatized. This cat hated every other human but immediately became her best friend and remained so for the rest of his life.

    We bet the husband "didn't want him" at first. They always end up as cuddle bugs, though!

    Acidvapor28. My cat passed away in November. He hated everyone ...everyone but my husband. My husband came into our lives when my cat was 8 years old. They were inseparable. He immediately accepted my husband who hated animals. My husband fell in love with him. He was destroyed the day our boy passed at age 16. Cats know and they change people. He was so special and III never forget him.

    Awkward Voicemail I really think cats and other animals can recognize when a creature is an infant. Maybe the smell? Not to say that pets are automatically better with children, you should still be cautious. I just think they know.

  • Do you think the cat is adopting the hooman child because they know that the daughter is blind? We can't say for sure, but cats do seem to have a sixth sense about these things. They know when we're sick and come and lay on us, they know when we're hurting somewhere and love to make biscuits on the sore spot, so maybe they can tell that this little girl needs their help. The daughter will be fiercely protected, that's for sure!

    Healthy-Feed9288 To reiterate what everyone saying about cats knowing: my cat was a stray/feral I adopted from the shelter. Total wildcat. Except with me. Whenever anyone comes over she hides and attacks if someone other than me tries to get her and even then she's a handful. Total skittish monster. As soon as they leave? She's a cuddle muffin.

    Except with one person. My daughter lives overseas with her mom. My cat had never once met her. The moment my kiddo came to visit my cat was all over her. Followed her everywhere. After my kiddo went back home? Never been like that with anyone else. Even my gfs that will stay for the weekend.

    dkeegl . My daughter is nonverbal. Until she was fifteen, we had dogs. Only dogs. They didn't bother my daughter, but none of them connected with her, either. When our last dog passed, CDS sent us a cat. Then another cat. Then a stray porch cat. Turns out my daughter loves cats, and the feeling appears to be mutual. They greet her throughout the day, nap with her, etc., and she's so gentle with them. We wish we'd known about this earlier.

    ZenithToNadir Absolutely adorable! I think cats just know who needs their love. We have a blind and deaf cocker that is up there in age with doggie dementia. Whenever we let her out for potty breaks and walks, one of the local stray street cats will run across the road to come hang out with her, butt heads and rub up against her. Our dog loved encountering cats on walks and would try to mother kittens we would foster, so I think this cat is trying to make our dog feel at peace in her old age.
