I'm watching my brother's cat, Charlie, who apparently decided that last night, in the late hours of the night, was the perfect time to stage a treat heist. I thought the cat treats were safe in the cabinet, but clearly, I underestimated Charlie's determination. It's my fault, really—rookie mistake not childproofing my apartment before he arrived. In hindsight, Charlie was probably plotting this heist the moment my brother handed him over.

By the time I stumbled into the kitchen at 7 a.m., still half-asleep and desperate for coffee, Charlie was sitting smugly next to the scene of the crime. The treat bag was ripped open, crumbs were everywhere, and he looked up at me with absolutely zero remorse. Was I mad? Of course. But when he gave those little purrs and gently rubbed his head against me, all was forgiven. Of course. He has me wrapped around his finger.

Now I've got to take Charlie to the vet to get a health certificate for his flight back to my brother. Given the amount of treats he ate, my vet is definitely going to have some words for me. But who am I to argue? It's not like cats understand portion control—or care ever so slightly about our morning plans.
