LinkedIn warrior faces roasting for instigating yearly performance review during date night with wife: 'He didn't dare ask her where she saw herself in 5 years'

Something that not everybody likes to acknowledge is that maintaining the happiness of a romantic relationship takes some effort, especially when you have been together for a long time. While love shouldn't be a struggle, maintaining a blissful obliviousness to the ways in which your connection is or isn't evolving is a surefire way to veer into breakup territory. 

If you are married, this is even more important. While it might not be the height of romance to acknowledge it, you have a legally binding contract as well as a relationship on the line. 

In theory, this should be simple enough when you establish clear communication, expectations, and goals, but pretty much everybody knows numerous couples who fail miserably at that. It only makes the predicament of how to approach relationship maintenance seem even more urgent, although it is also possible to extend way too far in the other direction.

  • When it comes to being overzealous in optimizing your marriage, posting about it on social media for clout should probably be an obvious no-no. Nonetheless, this didn't stop one eager LinkedIn user from revealing how he took his wife out to dinner with the specific intention of reviewing how each of them had performed as partners over the past year. Starting with “Where did 2024 miss the mark for you?” and going downhill from there, it is hard to escape the feeling that this was an uncomfortable meal.
