  • "Brother-in-law 'ruins' his son's Nintendo switch"

So my brother and I went together and bought a switch for my 2 young nephews last year for Christmas, along with several accessories. And to say they love it is an understatement... They adore this thing, and love talking their uncles about all of the games they've been playing. It actually makes me happy to see as it reminds me of my brother and I when we were younger. (We bonded a lot playing games growing up)
  • So I guess one day they were outside bored. And as kids do, had a not so great idea or intrusive thought and carved both of their names into the side of their fathers truck using a rock... Now, this isnt a very nice truck and is really just used to get around the property but he was very upset nonetheless. He's telling me about this happening just the other day and I say to him
  • "You know I made sure to put a screen protector on the switch we gave them." He just stared at me. "So if someone were to write on it, it wouldn't hurt it."

  • Skip to now and the Nintendo switch has in big bold letters "DAD" right across the screen. They were mortified. I'm sure he'll leave it on for a good couple weeks before telling and removing it to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  • umnothnku I was about to be so ped by the title, like it was gonna be a narcissistic parent or something, but this is beautiful

  • Watching Telly Now The penny didn't drop until I read the the last sentence, because I was picturing you telling him that so that he could remove them and write on the screens permanently. I got a very wholesome boost when I finally realised. Absolutely perfect, and very well written, well done, both of you!
  • lunarkitty554 Brilliant, doesn't actually negatively affect them but allows them to think it is to see how it feels
  • awkardfrog This is hilarious. I almost wish my dad had done something similar when I (age 6) carved my name (mispelled) into his car door. But no. I just had to see that carving for the next couple of years until they eventually got rid of that car. I had to be reminded of that every day for a few years. Now, almost 20 years later, the story is still told to everyone who will listen

  • SadLaw6 My daughter at 5 wrote her name on my very ab ive ex's beloved BMW. He came inside ranting and raving about how someone keyed his car and I went out and looked. I instantly recognized her crooked a name. I did not tell him. I escaped not long after and it's still one of me and my kids favorite stories.

  • sreey97 Based on the title I was gonna say that's evil, but after reading the story, that's just diabolical

  • GlitterLitter88 I love it when adults are on the same team and ready to give kids the care AND lessons that help them through life. This is great!
  • kicaboojooce Not gonna like... you had me in the beginning. As a dad to an 8 year old that, is tough to love sometimes, this is so good. So0000000000 good. They'll remember this forever, it'll be in wedding speeches, family members will laugh for decades.
