There are lots of reasons you may or may not want to join social media. You may want to abstain because you don't want to divulge any of your personal life to strangers. You may be afraid that you'll spend way too much of your free time on the platform, losing precious time with loved ones, hobbies, and other more beneficial pastimes. You may simply find it uninspiring to constantly check in on the opinions, takes, photos, and videos of other people who you may or may not know. You may worry about its potentially negative impact on your mental health. Fair enough.

There are a million reasons to abstain from social media and only a few reasons to join. You want to look at funny, goofy stuff so you can send it to your friends and family. Or you just want something, anything to distract you from the drudgery that is life on Earth. The push and pull of these pros and cons is powerful.
