We all know that women take up a bigger percentage of what we love to call a fandom. There is a reason why we use the term 'Fangirls' and not 'Fan… people', and that is because we ladies know how to perfect fandom culture, and we know how to do it right. We also tend to develop life-altering crushes on the people we are fans of, and those can become pretty intense, and stick with us for years until we are ready to let go (or move on to the next one).

Being a Potterhead is the perfect example of a fangirl in action. We did it all right – we consumed every Harry Potter piece of media, from the books to the films to interviews and fanfiction. We were there for it all. We also all had collective crushes on Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Tom Felton, which some might claim got a bit too far, but that was just part of the experience. 

For all intents and purposes, Harry Potter was our fandom's Chosen One.
