Interns are full of untapped potential. Young, talented college hopefuls fill intern positions every year. They gain invaluable workplace experience that's hard to gain otherwise. After all, most jobs won't accept someone who's had literally no workplace experience at all, and taking on an internship shows that you've navigated an office environment before. 

Some internships are designed to be easier than others. Like, you might get the kind of internship where you do coffee runs and man the front desk while the secretary grabs lunch… or you might get an internship with strict demands and tough bosses. It's the luck of the draw, and the industry you work in plays a huge part in the type of internship you wind up with as well.

Interns can bring valuable insight to the table, and they'll do it in the funniest possible ways, too. They have no idea about office etiquette, they make constant mistakes, and they're emboldened enough to speak truth to power (I mean, what do they have to lose? A non-paying job?).

Every intern hopes to gain employment at that company once they graduate college. It's a perk that many companies dangle in front of their interns like a carrot, yet they rarely deliver on the promise. Instead, they work the interns hard for the semester they're there, and then release them back into the real world to job search with a bit more experience under their belts.
