Stepbrother demands teenage stepsister refuel car that he uses constantly, she refuses: 'I never drove the car again'

Driving is pure fun… until it comes time to fill up the gas tank. Then you have to roll your eyes as you watch the number on the fuel meter tick higher and higher, costing you an incredible amount of money. 

As a teenager, a lot of kids have to share the family car with their parents or siblings. If you're a 16-year-old who just got a part-time job, you may find yourself sharing the car with Mom so that she can run errands and take your sibling to soccer practice. Or maybe it's just two teens sharing the car to go to the mall, a job, friends' houses, school, or the movies. That can cause some friction: when one kid wants to take the car to work, the other needs it for a movie at the same exact time. And it's more than just scheduling issues, as u/mrs_krokodile can tell you. She and her stepbrother simply could not agree on who should be putting gas in the car. 

If you've ever had to share a car with family, they've probably warned you not to bring the car back without a full tank.     When I had graduated high school I got a summer job that started early in the mornings. My older step-brother who was still living at home also started a job early, but the days he worked were sporadic. I was going to get a new/used car before I started college in the fall but for those few months would have to share the station wagon with step-bro.

    never drove that car again, I got up at 4 am every work morning and rode a bike to and from work. Then, the time came for the car to be filled with gas. Step-bro: "Hey, it's you're turn to fill gas again." (I filled it last time) Me: "Nope, I haven't driven the car once, I've been riding a bike to work." He was stuck with his signature stupid look on his face and looked at his mom who was mad and about to say something until my dad said "That's right!

    Edit: Fixing some grammar, also want to clarify this was 10+ years ago. My step-mom and I have a better relationship though a little sad. She feels bad about her difference in treatment but will never admit it or apologize to me for it. I look back on this story and laugh but when it comes to my feelings for my step-mom I care for her, but also feel sorry for her. Step-bro and I are not on speaking terms due to bigger issues.

That's heartbreaking, makes me want to hug the h I out of my step- daughter, but she's at college, so I guess I'll make her cookies tonight instead.     All this person had to do was take a photo before and after each drive. Then they could have exact evidence to present to their stingy step-fam. Of course, not driving at all is probably the easier solution.
