Step-father trying to connect with step-daughter overhears her calling him ‘pathetic,’ so he resells the car he bought her: ‘I told her how much her words hurt, she rolled her eyes’

It's not easy being a step-parent. Especially with all those Hollywood movies making step-parents out to be these evil villains. It might feel that way at first when you're a kid—like someone is coming in to replace your real parent who you love so dearly. But that is not the case! Sure, some step-parents are awful in real life, but really, most of the time, a step-parent is just trying their best. They one to be part of this new family because they have fallen in love. That's difficult to understand at first as a kid, but once the family and co-parenting starts to mesh well, it's embraced. Step-parents can sometimes even be a better parent than the blo0d one! 

 

Take this step-father, for instance. When he married his wife, he knew she came with a teenage daughter. So he was ready to try his hardest to have some sort of positive relationship with her. He wasn't trying to be her "new father," but he wanted to let her know that he is all in on this family and will do anything for them. He even started to help her learn to drive once she got her learners permit. So, for her birthday, he bought her a perfect little used starter car.

    He worked extra hours in order to afford it for her, which wasn't easy since the wife was taking some time off from working to chase her creative dreams. So he was paying most of the bills and now this additional fee of a used car. But he was happy to do so to strengthen a bond between him and his step-daughter. 

     

    In the beginning, he thought it worked. She even gave him a thank you-hug, which felt like progress to him. However, he caught her saying some very hurtful things about him to her friends. When he confronted her about it and told her how much it hurt him, she rolled her eyes and even told him to take back the car if it was that bad. So, he did… Now, the family dynamic is all messed up!

  • Starbreezz This whole thing is so messed up. Like, u went above and beyond for Lily, and she just threw it back in ur face. it's about the complete lack of respect. And the fact that Clara is brushing it off and blaming u is just adding insult to injury.
