Animal enthusiast adopts a skunk into her motley crew of pets, making their fuzzy family perfectly unique: ‘I can’t even begin to describe how affectionate and loving they are'

Hey there, animal fans. We love animals over here at Animal Comedy (obviously), even the stinky ones. Our doggo is pupticularly stinky, but we love her anyway (don't worry, we do bathe her regularly, she just likes to go swimming…in the mud). If money was no option and we had one million acres of land, we would adopt literally every animal we could and just love them all every day, all day. Especially the stinky ones. Well, the animal enthusiast in this post may not have one million dollars or acres and acres of land, but that didn't stop them from adopting one unique animal into their fuzzy family…a skunk!

Now that we've seen them with the skunk, we're kind of obsessed. In fact, we're ready to go out and adopt a skunk right now. They look so soft, and most importantly, snuggly. Now, if you scroll through this post and think, "Hey, I want a skunk now too!", then we must say that first, you need to educate yourself on the special needs of having a skunk as a pet. Knowledge is power, and you wouldn't want to give your cute skunk a rotten life, would you?

They are an incredible little creature and I can't even begin to describe how affectionate and loving they are. His name is Lefty. He is 9

    months old. I bottle fed him 4 times a day for 2 months. He is descented and neutered. Has virtually NO ODOR. (My dog has more of an unpleasant smell than him.) He doesn't shed. He is potty trained. He gives me sweet kisses on my neck He loves avocados, peanuts,

    cheese and peanut butter! Even though I want everyone to experience a skunk as a pet, I would HIGHLY recommend NOT-because they are an extraordinary amount of work to get them to where he is at. Countless, patient hours of feeding, bonding and training.

  • Before this, we didn't even know that adopting skunks was a thing. They were animals that we loved from a distance (a very large distance) and always thought they were cute but knew they were in the “no touchy” category. Well, now that's all changed.

  • Fun fact, we got sprayed by a skunk once when we were a kid. We were outside playing with our doggos, and we must have stumbled upon the den of a momma skunk and her babies. She sprang into action and promptly sprayed us and one of our doggos. We took a tomato bath with the doggo later that night. It was not fun.

    Leathermoss He is descented and neutered for behavioral reasons! He is the cleanest most hygienic animal I have ever had. He's very affectionate, intelligent and loves the dog and cat! The cats think he's one of them-the dog, not so much. He's still on high alert thinking he will get sprayed.

    Leathermoss He is a skunk! His color is grey and white- they call him a lavender skunk. When his tail fans out and the sun hits it just right-it's a very definitive purple!
