22 Severance Memes Your Outie Has Probably Seen But Your Innie Hasn't

Wakey wakey, outies… It's time to wake up and smell the memes! SPOILERS AHEAD!

Severance, after a short(ish) hiatus from our television screens, has come back to Apple TV+ with a new, sinister tone. At the end of season one, audiences were left speechless and hanging off one of the most insane cliffhangers in television history (aside from Agent Cooper being shot at the end of Twin Peaks season one). Irving, Mark, Helly, and Dylan have all gotten a taste of the good(?) outside life, yet they all come back in season two without question. Mark's outie insists on coming back to Lumon despite the horrid vitriol Mark's innie expresses throughout the first season. This begs the question that Helly so graciously answers in season two, episode one: Are innies and outies the same, or are they truly different from one another? Two separate entities?

Well, my opinion on that is simple: Innie Mark wouldn't exist without Outie Mark, and the same goes for every severed person. I think. Ms. Casey is a lockbox I have not tried to break into, so if you have any fan theories you're itching to share, sound off in the comments. There's nothing more invigorating than overanalyzing every shot, character moment, and plot point and then writing an essay on it. Just look at the Severance subreddit. Now that's dedication.

We all know that Severance is one giant metaphor for Big Corporate and work/life balance. They ridicule the idea that work is life and satirize that notion through hyperbole and cult relativism. I guess you can say that cult relativism is hyperbole in itself, but you actually can't say that at all. Just take a lot at all of the recent videos coming out about employees ditching their corporate roles for something a bit more slow. A 7-9 is not what humans were made for, so much so that someone created a show that exemplifies the extremes folks are willing to go to so they don't have to put on the suit and cubicle rot for eight hours a day.
