I always turn down the radio to focus better while driving. There's something about silence that feels like it'll make finding the address I'm looking for easier, even though it never does. I've been an anxious driver ever since my first driver's ed lesson, when I made the rookie mistake of turning left at a green light without waiting for oncoming traffic. My instructor nearly had a heart attack. It's not my fault, though (okay, it is). I was part of the generation that got to take the instruction modules online instead of being cooped up in a classroom for 30 hours over the weekend. At least that's how it was done in my town. But clearly, I should've been cooped up.

Now I overthink everything on the road. You will not catch me driving between two semi-trucks. Nope, I'll either speed up or slow down to escape. And if I'm merging onto a busy highway, I'm probably holding my breath until the lane switch is made. Am I going too fast? Too slow? Why is that car tailgating me?
