'We call this the "cookie soup" incident': 25+ Baking mistakes fresh from the oven

They say cooking is an art, while baking is a science. If you understand what that means, congratulations—you're probably an experienced baker or cook! It also probably means that you've messed up a recipe or five in your life. 

Cooking food allows for some creativity: you can toss in some extra garlic if you want, add a big pinch of salt and pepper, and guesstimate how much oil to cook with. But for baking, there's little room for experimentation. If your bread calls for 3 teaspoons of yeast mixed with warm water, you can't just add a handful of yeast and whisk it in cold water. Your bread will flop into an inedible mess in the oven! Instead, you need to be as exact as possible each time you bake cookies, cupcakes, or bread. 

Things don't always go according to plan, though, and no one knows this better than the people below, who tried and failed to make delicious treats. Some forgot the baking powder and ended up with "eraser bread." Others forgot something crucial for their cookie recipes, resulting in one giant flat cookie. Oh well, there's always next time!
