Woman plans best friend’s engagement party, gets kicked out by bride-to-be when boyfriend proposes during toast: 'It's not like you guys need the spotlight all night'
Engagement parties are the new thing, and honestly, what's one more celebration at this point? We already have bachelorette parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners—oh, and now, welcome parties. Apparently, this is a new trend where guests gather for a party the night before the wedding to get the celebration going. At this rate, we're just inventing reasons to keep the champagne flowing. But hey, any excuse to celebrate with friends and family is a good thing in my book.
Unless, of course, your friends completely hijack your celebration. At least that's what happened to one bride-to-be when her best friend's boyfriend decided to propose at her engagement party. Right in the middle of the toast, he grabbed the mic, got down on one knee, and made the entire night about him. When the bride called him out, he shrugged and said, "It's not like you guys need the spotlight all night." Oof. So she gave him what he really needed… the boot.
