'I want my own life already': 30-year-old pays half of the family's rent then gets lectured by her freeloading little sister that her $700 contribution is no longer enough since she got a higher-paying job

This woman realized she had grown too old to live with her family members after her little sister started scrutinizing her higher earnings and expected to cash in on her success. 

Your family should be the first to congratulate you on a promotion. Proud of your success and thrilled that you're moving up with your career, typically your family members are glimmering beacons of positivity upon hearing the good news. But this little sister was jealous of her sibling's new job and decided to try and cash in on it through the shared family bills. After getting a new job that paid more, the older sister started to become excited about her future and decided to start saving up. Already paying half of the family's rent ($700), the older sister didn't feel she needed to pay much more; however, even though she was paying less than half her sister's stipend ($200), the freeloading little sister disagreed. 

Mooching behavior begets a swift recoil of benefits, especially when sisters are involved. I supposed it was time to fast-track that moving day to teach her a lesson in greed. Riding someone else's coattails only gets you so far…

  • Edit: My parents had no idea of my sister's condescending lecture. I spoke with my mom about it and she was irritated, agreeing with me that she had no right to be lecturing me like that. Seems like this is mainly the issue with my sister only, not my parents.

Tell her to pound sand and when she's working she can pick up the slack because your parents "deserve" it. Do your parents know what she's saying and if they do, what are their reactions?
