'For $30 of food she was willing to risk my life': 25-year-old kicks out her roommate after she admits to spiking their meals with a severe allergen to flush out a food thief

Allergies are no joke, especially when we're talking bee allergies, shellfish allergies, and the dreaded peanut allergy. For some reason, some folks aren't equipped to be anywhere near these toxins and if they're unlucky enough to cross paths with the poison, there will be some serious consequences. That's why most people who are severely allergic to certain things take extra special care—but a careless roommate might not be so cautious. 

This 25-year-old woman was shocked after she got caught in the crosshairs of a roommate drama triangle, finding out they were using her severe peanut allergy as bait to flush out a thief. 

After living with a person for a little while, you can gauge the kind of person that they are. But after 4 years of close friendship, late-night gossip sessions, and heart-to-heart conversations, this friendship quickly imploded because of a peanut-loaded boobytrap meant to roll the dice with Bestie's life.

    Stealing food is never a good thing. Thievery of any kind is frowned upon, especially from your own roommates. However, poisoning your friend and rolling the dice with their life is far, far worse.

  • Frozefoots I'd look at replacing both of them. Jenny for the obvious - you could have died simply from cross contamination, not even from eating her food. What if the utensils or plates weren't washed properly? Even trace amounts of nuts can kill those who are allergic.

  • I also assume you wouldn't steal other people's food anyway, because they might have nuts in them. But the fact she considered that an option speaks less to whether she risked your life or not and more to what else she's capable of, and I think you're probably making the right choice.
