27 Baffling Design Choices Found in the Wild (February 23, 2025)

Even the best of us make stupid mistakes. I swear I've gotten my own name and birthday wrong while filling out forms. I make the dumbest of errors on the daily. I routinely turn left when I was supposed to be turning right. When going to the airport, I always have to think carefully about whether I belong in the "arrivals" gate or the "departures" gate. It's confusing because you're arriving to the airport, but your'e departing to go somewhere else. Please don't tell me I'm the only one who does this.

All to say, it's only natural to slip up every now and then. If we were perfect, then we'd be boring. That's what robots are for, not humans. Plus, robots aren't even perfect themselves. Whenever I'm playing Spotify on my Amazon Alexa, she always says "there is no music playing" when I ask her what the song title or artist is. I'd like to see a human say that.

Mistakes are not only inevitable, they are funny. We delight in the mistakes of others because they make us feel better about ourselves, and they are sometimes so absurd that our only course of action is to laugh. So that's what we're here to do.
