As a few commenters state, gender/s*x information about an unborn child is only available to the parents unless stated otherwise. The pregnant sister in this story does not want to share this information with her salty, slightly unhinged sister. Though she feels sympathy for her sister's unfulfilled wish, she cannot help but also think that her sister should be grateful for the six children she does have. This baby is the woman's, not the sister's.

Sister demands woman reveal if she's pregnant with a girl after sister gives birth to 6 sons despite wanting a daughter: ‘We [won't] see her for at least the rest of my pregnancy’
Many women dream of having a little mini-me to call their daughter. If you weren't given a great upbringing as a child yourself, it makes sense that you'd want to give a better life to someone who is essentially a little version of you. This isn't always in the cards for many women; the cards fall where they may, and you might end up giving birth to six beautiful children, all sons, instead. Typically, a mother would be excited about bearing any children at all because many women aren't able to do so, but the sister in this story is clearly still very angry about never having the chance to raise a daughter. She is demanding that her pregnant sister tell her if she's having a girl so she can prepare for the feelings that might arise. Now, she is considering helping name the child if it's a girl, and the pregnant sister is worried that her pregnancy will just become about this unfulfilled wish. So, she decides to cut contact until she gives birth. Scroll to read.
