'[I stole] my sister's cat because she wants to declaw him': Person cat-naps sister's cat because they overheard her talking about declawing him for scratching her sofas

We don't know why, but we thought that at this point, it is a well-known fact that declawing cats is evil. It's not an option. If your cat is causing chaos around your house, you have to find ways to deal with it. You have to buy your cat more scratchers, ones that it likes more. Or you have to use some other way to teach your cat to not use your curtains as claw sharpeners. You cannot harm your cat because it scratches your couch. We thought people understood. This isn't up for debate.

But apparently, not everyone is up to date on the information. Apparently, some people still think that harming your pets is something that you are allowed to do if they are not behaving the way that you want them to behave. And so, when this person overheard their sister saying that she is considering declawing her cat because it scratches her furniture, they did what they thought was right, and they stole her cat. Now, they're asking themselves if they did the right thing.

This is a tough one for us. We think that you need to talk to her. In case she doesn't understand what she is talking about, you need to explain it to her and see how she reacts. If she knows what declawing means and still wants to do it, then you did the right thing by taking the cat from her. If she doesn't know and regrets ever thinking about it, then you should return the cat to its rightful owner.

And if you want to wait a few days, that's another option, we suppose. Because really, if more than one day passes, and she doesn't even notice that her cat is gone, then that is a reason right there to take the cat away from her.
