As a 32-year-old whose musical taste was essentially forged by these games, I can't help but feel emotional. These songs weren't just background noise—they were our anthems. They were the soundtrack to countless hours spent ignoring homework, eating pizza rolls, and desperately trying to figure out how to manual into a kickflip without faceplanting. These tracks shaped our personalities more than we'd probably like to admit.
I vividly remember blasting CKY at full volume while attempting my first ollie in real life (spoiler: it didn't end well). And who among us didn't try to impress their crush by casually mentioning Gang Starr or KRS-One as if we discovered them ourselves? Tony Hawk didn't just introduce us to skateboarding—he introduced an entire generation to music that defined our adolescence. -

That’s why, in my opinion, the news about the soundtrack is so exciting—not only because it gives us a nostalgic throwback this summer, but also because a whole new generation of kids in 2025 will experience exactly what we did, just with modern graphics. The thought that some of these kids might discover themselves through music, feeling the same rush I felt when I first found myself headbanging in front of a TV screen, is genuinely moving.
The game itself promises plenty of new goodies too: updated graphics, cross-platform multiplayer for up to eight players, new skaters, and even new parks—the first fresh skateparks added to the series in over a decade. Plus, if you're feeling fancy (or just irresponsible with money), there's a Collector's Edition that includes a full-size Birdhouse skateboard deck signed by Tony Hawk himself. Sure beats that old Tech Deck you lost under your bed back in '02.

The world is burning, housing prices are ridiculous, and we're all drowning in student debt—but hey, at least we can grind rails to Motörhead again. Nothing compares to hearing those opening chords of "Ace of Spades" as you drop into Foundry or Airport. It's like stepping into a time machine—only now our knees hurt more and our reflexes are slower. Still worth it.

So mark your calendars for July 11th (or July 8th if you're one of those fancy pre-order folks). Until then, we'll just keep replaying Spotify playlists of the soundtrack while pretending we're still young enough to pull off cargo shorts without judgment.
And if anyone needs me, I'll be practicing my combos—both skateboarding tricks and snack combinations—for launch day. After all, nostalgia tastes best with an assortment of snacks and energy drinks.

Welcome back, Tony Hawk. We've missed you more than our youthful optimism.
