worker rights where i work are a privilege, the law says overtime is not obligatory, if you dont want to do it there is nothing they can do about it. i had to work saturday because when he was scolding me bout leaving when my shift ends he made me promise the next time he ask for overtime i cant say no, i have a life outside work, but he doesnt, he only works and works

kiwimuz 14h ago . Just turn up and do your hours and no more. If others are too afraid to do the same it's their fault

mcflame13. 10h ago Just leave on time from now on and start looking for another job. I can almost guarantee that job has high turnover since they require. overtime even though it is illegal where you live. You should also look into who you have to report the company to since they are doing mandatory overtime since it is illegal.

    • ErgoProxy0 10h ago I get so many passive aggressive comments about my schedule. I've been at my place of work for years and I do my 40 hours, nothing more unless I'm agreeing to cover for someone out. The other day one of the general managers said "you don't work Monday AND

Tuesday???? Who's your manager?" sarcastically because everyone there usually works 5 or 6 days a week while I work 4 10 hour shifts. Not only do I make more money than them so I don't need to do overtime I

find it odd that a lot them tell me I need to work more. Meanwhile they're calling out every other week because they're sick, or have an appointment, or their kid is sick because they're working

    • Pretty-Ebb5339 15h ago Hiw long is your lunch break? Where do you live that you're not allowed to work more than 8 hours? If you're scheduled 8-5, and get a 1 hour lunch, you're working 8 hours. Mandatory overtime is a thing in the United States, and you can be fired for not showing up.

trabuco18 OP • 13h ago my shift is from 7 am to 4:30, thats 9 hours plus 30 of lunch break, and then the boss wants everyone to stay overtime and gets angry when anyone, not only me, leaves, he think we dont get tired or have life? i say to him i have things to do, you know, live, and

even if i do nothing i want to leave, i dont need an excuse, anyway he doesnt care, he told me basically to put my sh together and work. doesnt matter where i live just that law says shifts cant be more than 8 hours per day, anything more is overtime, has to be paid double and is not obligatory
